Artwork Guidelines

Ordering custom promotional products should feel exciting, not overwhelming. Whether you already have polished artwork ready to go or only have a rough logo pulled from a business card, Purple Pie Promos will help guide you through the process.

Below are answers to some of the most common artwork and proofing questions we receive.

I Don’t Have a Logo or Artwork

No problem at all. Many customers simply use their company name, phone number, website, or a short message printed in clean text on their promotional products. In many cases, simple text layouts can be created at no additional charge.

If you would like something a little more customized, we can often help create a simple logo or layout based on your business information and style preferences. For more advanced artwork, branding, or logo design requests, additional artwork charges may apply depending on the complexity of the project.

If you are unsure where to start, just contact us. Even a rough idea scribbled on paper, a screenshot, or a description is often enough for us to point you in the right direction.

What Type of Artwork Works Best?

We can work with most artwork formats, but some files produce cleaner and sharper print results than others.

Vector artwork is typically the preferred format for promotional product printing. Common vector file formats include:

  • .AI
  • .EPS
  • .PDF (vector-based)
  • .SVG

Vector files can usually be resized without losing quality, which makes them ideal for printing on products of different sizes and imprint methods.

We can also often work with:

  • .PNG
  • .JPG / .JPEG
  • .PSD
  • Website screenshots
  • Photos of business cards or letterhead

However, lower-resolution images may not reproduce cleanly when printed. A logo that looks acceptable on a computer screen may appear blurry or pixelated when enlarged for production.

Can You Convert My Artwork?

In many cases, yes.

If your logo is simple, our art team can often recreate or convert it into a cleaner, production-ready format at little or no cost. More detailed logos, illustrations, or heavily distorted images may require additional artwork time or conversion fees.

If you are unsure whether your artwork will work, simply send it to us and we will review it. We are happy to let you know what options are available before production begins.

What Is a Proof?

A proof is a digital preview showing how your artwork, logo, or text is expected to appear on the final product before production begins.

Proofs allow you to review important details such as:

  • Artwork placement
  • Spelling and grammar
  • Imprint colors
  • Sizing and proportions
  • General layout

We strongly recommend reviewing your proof carefully before approving production. Once a proof is approved, your order will move into production using the approved artwork and layout.

How Long Do Proofs Take?

Most proofs are completed within a few business hours, although some may take up to 24 hours depending on artwork complexity, revisions, order details, and production requirements.

If your order is time-sensitive, please let us know as early as possible so we can help determine the best production and shipping options available.

Any requested proof revisions may require additional processing time.

Production Timing and Rush Orders

Production times vary depending on the product, decoration method, inventory availability, and shipping destination.

Many standard promotional products can be produced within approximately 5 to 10 business days after proof approval, although some products may require additional time.

Rush production may be available on select items for an additional fee. If you have an event deadline, please contact us before placing your order so we can help determine realistic production and delivery timelines.

Artwork Colors and Print Variations

Slight variations in imprint size, placement, color, texture, and appearance may occur during the manufacturing and printing process.

Colors displayed on screens and digital proofs may also appear differently in person due to monitor settings, lighting conditions, materials, and imprint methods.

While we do our best to closely match artwork and imprint colors, exact color matching cannot always be guaranteed unless specifically arranged in advance.

Still Unsure?

Promotional product printing involves a lot of unfamiliar terminology, file formats, and production methods, especially for first-time buyers.

The good news is that you do not need to figure it all out yourself.

Just send us whatever artwork, ideas, or information you have available, and we will help guide you through the process as smoothly as possible.
